I’ve been blogging for little over a year now and I’ve learnt a lot of things in that time about blogging and I want to share 5 things I’ve learnt with you.
Work at your own pace
I’ve learnt that working at your own pace is the best way to do this, don’t think because other bloggers are posting x amounts of blog posts a week that you have to do that, if you can’t get out 4 posts a week then don’t push yourself to, if you know that you can only get 1 or 2 posts out a week then that’s okay, you do you and work at the pace that suits you the most. When I first started blogging I thought that I had to publish a post every day, I now post 3 posts a week, on a good week that is, there are days when I can’t get a post out because I have other commitments and I’m not one of those people who schedules posts I write when I have the time, yes I have set days to do stuff but like I say there are days when I can’t stick to that. So just know that working at your own pace is okay.
Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers
Now I’m gonna be completely honest I have been guilty of this a few times, I see other bloggers who are doing amazing and wish that I could be like that, their content is awesome and they’re awesome. There are days when I’ve compared myself to other bloggers and just wanted to give up because I thought I wasn’t good enough, but you’ve gotta realise if you love what you’re doing then you’ve gotta stick to it. Write what YOU want to write not what you think you have to write, you be you and be great at it.
Interacting with other bloggers is always good
It’s always nice to interact with other bloggers. When I first started blogging I must admit I was a little nervous and anxious to talk to other bloggers but in the long run I’ve realised it’s one of the best things to do and there are some absolutely lovely bloggers out there so don’t be afraid to talk to others.
Using social media is helpful
I never realised how helpful using social media would be when it comes to blogging, I never used to hashtag anything when I first started I used to just publish my post and hope for the best, now I hashtag a lot and get RTs from RT accounts on twitter which is so helpful. It’s also good to promote your blog during the times when you don’t publish posts, one thing I also love doing is running polls over on my twitter to help me get ideas for my blog or to get other people’s opinions and I find it so helpful.
Taking a break is okay
In a year I’ve taken 2 breaks from blogging and doing so it’s helped me fall in love with blogging even more, you need to realise that if you feel like it’s getting a bit too much and you can’t do it or you’re struggling with content to post then take a break, whether it’s a 2 day break or a 2 month break you will come back with such a clearer mind and it will make you feel so much more confident in what you are producing. I took a 2 month break from blogging at the start of the year to figure out the sort of content I wanted to publish and to decide wether or not this was something I wanted to continue for the future and doing so made me realise how much I actually love blogging, yes it’s stressful at times and there are days when I just can’t do it but just continue to take all the breaks you need to make sure that you don’t fall out of love with something you actually love to do.
Until next time
